Former first lady Jill Biden is standing by her husband’s political legacy and making a bold claim about the 2024 election: if he had stayed in the race, he would have defeated President Donald Trump.
During an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Jill Biden said she believes former President Joe Biden would have emerged victorious had he not withdrawn from the race after mounting concerns about his age and fitness for office.
“I believe he would have beat Donald Trump in that election,” she said.
The comments come as Democrats continue to debate what went wrong in 2024 and whether the party’s decision to pressure Biden out of the race ultimately handed Trump a path back to the White House.
