Sen. Josh Hawley says investigators should leave no stone unturned as they examine the death of Sen. Lindsey Graham, arguing that the circumstances warrant a full investigation, including toxicology testing and an autopsy.
Appearing on Jesse Watters Primetime, Hawley was asked whether Russian involvement should be considered after Graham had returned from Ukraine the same day he died. While stopping short of making any accusation, Hawley said investigators should examine every possible explanation.
“I think it is only wise and smart to look at every angle here,” Hawley said. “There should be a full toxicology report, autopsy, the whole thing.”
Hawley noted that Graham had been one of the Senate’s most outspoken critics of Russian President Vladimir Putin and a longtime hawk on Iran, saying the South Carolina senator had “a lot of enemies in the world.”
“I wouldn’t rule anything out,” Hawley said. “I don’t want to be a conspiracy theorist, and I hope none of that is true.”
The Missouri Republican emphasized that his comments were not meant to suggest any conclusion, but rather to encourage a thorough investigation that follows the evidence wherever it leads.
His remarks come after other lawmakers, including Sen. John Cornyn, also declined to dismiss the possibility of foul play before investigators complete their work.
For now, officials have not publicly announced any evidence indicating Graham’s death resulted from criminal activity. Hawley said that is precisely why a comprehensive investigation is important.
“We owe it to his constituents and the American people to get the truth,” he said.
As federal investigators continue reviewing the case, Hawley’s message was simple: gather the facts first, eliminate every possibility, and let the evidence determine the final answer.
