A Wisconsin murder case is drawing national attention after a woman was allegedly killed over her political beliefs.
Christine Jones, 61, was shot and killed on March 22 in a parking garage on West Washington Avenue in Madison, according to local authorities. Police say she was heading into work at a hotel when she was attacked.
The suspect, 31-year-old Diamond Wallace, was arrested the following day. Investigators recovered a firearm from Wallace’s apartment.
What makes the case especially disturbing is the alleged motive.
According to the criminal complaint, Wallace had expressed hostility toward Jones because she supported President Donald Trump. The two had previously worked together, but Wallace had been terminated from her job nearly a year earlier.
Authorities have not indicated any other clear motive beyond what has been described as a personal and political grievance.
Wallace is currently being held on a $2 million bond.
